Exploring an underground cavern, they encounter a den of pirates and their leader, Faris. With the help of the pirate captain, the group makes its way to the Wind Shrine to discover the shattered Crystal, but no sign of the missing king. The shards react to their presence, however, and an image of Tycoon appears, explaining to them that they must protect those Crystals that yet remain. Eventually, the party comes to discover that the Crystals formed a seal upon Exdeath, an ancient sorcerer; with them destroyed, not only would the dark essence be released, but over time the planet itself would become uninhabitable.
Final Fantasy V has been praised for the freedom of customization that the player has over the characters, achieved through the greatly expanded Job System. Despite the lack of an early release in territories other than Japan, the Super Famicom version sold more than two million copies. The PlayStation version has earned Greatest Hits' status, selling more than 350,000 copies. MY COMMENT: Between Final Fantasy 4 and Final Fantasy 6, two very successful and well known entries in the series that make up the Super Nintendo trilogy of genre defining JRPG's lies this game. Whilst it is not known plotwise as one of the best, however the characters are memorable especially the main character Butz, Gilgamesh the series most popular mid boss especially for his theme and Exdeath. An evil tree no literally he is a evil tree with the most annoying final boss form since Cloud of Darkness especially with Grand Cross.

This system was first established in, but in that game, there was no way to visibly anticipate which character's turn would come up next. In Final Fantasy V, the player can see which playable character's turn is next in battle, in the form of a time gauge—or 'ATB Bar'—which fills according to a character's speed. When the selected character's turn arrives, the player can execute one of several commands, such as attacking the enemy with an equipped weapon, using a special ability or item, or changing the character's row position.

If the player is willing to do the grinding required to gain power and skills, the game can be beaten with relative ease. If however, you simply wish to play through with minimal grinding, you'll have a difficult time. Lastly: When the game starts, none of the characters have jobs. There is a “base” job. One of the most over-looked and powerful jobs in the game. After other jobs are developed, the “base” option and the “mimic” job are best.

Final Fantasy V is a role-playing game that uses the Active Time Battle system first introduced in Final Fantasy IV. It also incorporates the Job/Ability system from Final Fantasy III, which keeps the core gameplay centered on four main characters and allows the player to change their classes, or 'jobs'. A new feature lets the player assign an ability from one job to a character who uses another job. I will most likely be using Reina as a Red Mage. (Yes, I like the PS1 Translation better for Lenna's Name) It is obtained after the Water Crystal shatters. It's not as good as white mages or black mages on their ability to use spells, but versatility is their selling point.
Fortunately for the party, the reunification of worlds has opened the pathways to ancient sites where weapons and powers used to quell Enuo's rise a thousand years past lay in wait. So armed, the party enters the Rift, seeking out Exdeath at the center of the inter-dimensional nexus where they, too, fall prey to the Void. With help from their fallen allies, the party survives and is returned before Exdeath, now manifested as a demonic sylvan, battling him until he weakens and is swallowed by his own power. He then transforms into Neo Exdeath, intent on destroying the very essence of reality, himself with it. Exdeath is ultimately defeated, and, using the power of the Crystal shards, the heroes seal the Void once more and restore the reunified world and its Crystals. The game's ending varies based on how many party members are still alive at Neo Exdeath's defeat, detailing the events after the world's resurrection.

The ATB mechanic with a gauge, as seen in Final Fantasy V, would be used in the four following main titles in the series and remains a staple mechanic of the franchise. Job System [ ]. See also: The main feature of the gameplay of Final Fantasy V is the Job System. Players can freely select jobs (also called 'classes') for their characters to master, allowing each character to gain special abilities and potentially master all 22 jobs (26 in the Game Boy Advance version).
I will say it’s a good story and it’s worth playing. I would say IV and VI are better, however. Depth: There’s a lot to be found in the main story, but the game is lacking in side games, etc. If the job system is fully developed, then there is an option to do more – but again, this is a matter of interest vs. Difficulty: This depends entirely on grinding and job utilization.

This, in turn, makes for multiple ways to play the game and gives people a reason to grind. That having been said, many of these jobs are clearly inferior to other options, so whether or not the game is “addictive” depends on the player’s desire to try and build all job options. Sound: One of the best things about all Final Fantasy games is the music. The music in FF V is enjoyable, tolerable for long hours of grinding, and matched well with the mood/storyline.

Probably the darkest of the Final Fantasy games to date, Final Fantasy V was set in a world where the elemental crystals that protected it from evil were breaking, and all hope seemed lost. The story began with the King of Tycoon, sensing something wrong and travelling to the Shrine of the Wind Crystal. Sadly, when he arrived, the Crystal shattered into a million pieces, and the wind died. That, however, was only the start of his problems. Final Fantasy V featured one of the most unpleasant villains ever to appear in a Final Fantasy game - both devious and insane - and the result was a very downbeat story, with major characters getting killed throughout the story, the world exploded and more. As the unfortunately named Butz, the hero of the story, it was up to the player to try to sort everything out across no less than three worlds.

Following the release of the, Sony reported that the new system had compatibility issues with the Final Fantasy V half of Final Fantasy Anthology. The game experienced a bug where if players attempted to save their games, a graphical error would occur. Final Fantasy V (english translation) Review by: - 8/10 Final Fantasy V Review Overall:Final Fantasy is a series known for its innovation, memorable characters, enjoyable music, and over-use of amnesia as a plot device – and Final Fantasy V for the SNES is no exception. The story takes place on your typical fantasy world (dragons, pirates, and pre-gun powder weaponry abound). The first character (can’t really call him the main) is a traveler with a basic but existent back. This is an improvement (in my opinion) over the typical “four mysterious Light Warriors arrive in town one day.”He quickly meets up with the other characters in the game and they, in turn, try to solve the mystery of the meteors and the crystals. The game takes some unpredictable turns, remains relatively consistent throughout (i.e. No gaping plot holes), and has funny bad guys that make the work fun. Graphics: The graphics are good. It’s an SNES game, so there’s not a lot of range to this sort of thing. The over-world map is easy to navigate, Monsters are well drawn, and character animations during battle are great (for back then).
I didn't include Dragoon because i don't think it adds much, unless you just want to poke stuff. Dragoon is meh anyway. The only 'real' perk you get for mastering it is innate Equip Lances. Since pretty much only one lance is worth it (and an end-game weapon at that), that makes it a lackluster class overall.
The game is pretty straightforward Final Fantasy, except for the Job System that the characters use. You have a large selection of jobs, and there’s no penalty in switching from one job to another (unlike FFIII). Battles earn you points that go towards leveling up these jobs, which give you extra abilities.

As the unfortunately named Butz, the hero of the story, it was up to the player to try to sort everything out across no less than three worlds. With Final Fantasy V, Square upped the ante and filled up a 16Mb SNES cartridge with one of the best Final Fantasy games to date. The links between this and the previous titles were both the Final Fantasy name and many common elements in the gameworld. Final Fantasy V combined these elements from the systems used in the earlier releases, and added a few unique twists of its own. Once more, the player controlled a party of four characters, with their fixed identities tied into the background story and plot.

With its seemingly unbeatable track record, some people were beginning to wonder if Square could maintain the same level of quality and imagination in its games. The story began with the King of Tycoon, sensing something wrong and travelling to the Shrine of the Wind Crystal.
