But, the problem is: I downloaded Oracle Database 10g R2 for Linux x86 at Oracle's website and I followed all the procedures to configure Linux OS for an Oracle DB installation. When I run Oracle Installer ( #./ runinstaller ) I got a log informing It wasn't possible to install because it wasn't a right version of Oracle DB for Oracle Unbreakable Linux. It was a version for RHEL 4 and SLES9. I was navigating at Oracle's website but I couldn't find a version of Oracle DB 10g R2 for Oracle Unbreakable Linux anywhere. Could anyone inform me, or just post here the links, where I'd be able to find this version of Oracle DB? Thanks a lot. Is ther any way to install oracle without root access.on a user account on Linux?

If the current control file is still present on disk, you can merely issue a RESTORE DATABASE followed by a RECOVER DATABASE. If you are not attempting a Complete Recovery (i.e. Upto the last transaction in the online redo logs) and/or the online redo logs are not available, you would also include a SET UNTIL (scn or log sequence or time) clause in you RESTORE and RECOVER.
Do i need to handle that manually? In general what is the best practice coexisting the 32 bits libs next the 64 bits libs.

From 11gR2 onwards, ASM is not managed from the Oracle db's home but from the Grid Infrastructure's home using ASMCA (configuration assistant for asm). So even you would be on the single instance, you would need to download and install the Grid Infrastructure before you can work with ASM. Also, if you are not aware than from 11gR2 onwards, support for RAW devices is over so for the use of ASM, you would need block devices only and if on linux, preferrable would be that you configure your devcices using ASMLIB.
